Could allergies be causing your asthma symptoms?

A recent press release published by the Clarity Allergy Center focuses on how important it is for asthma sufferers to identify potential triggers. According to the source, 60 percent of the 25 million Americans who have been diagnosed with asthma actually have allergic asthma. This means that if asthmatics were to avoid certain allergens—like dust mites, pet dander, mold or pollen—they could experience some relief.

Dr. Brian Rotskoff, an allergy specialist from Chicago, says that it's essential to take a holistic approach when treating asthma patients.

"Whether I'm treating a patient with chronic cough, allergies or asthma, the most important step that I take is identifying the cause of symptoms," Dr. Rotskoff said in a press statement. "In the case of a chronic condition, such as asthma or cough, very often I see temporary relief of symptoms. While many patients are thirsting for that immediate relief, they won't be satisfied until they treat their condition wholly."

If you suffer from asthma, Dr. Rotskoff recommends paying attention to when your symptoms are worse. Is it when you're around your cat or dog? Is it after you've been outside when the pollen count is particularly high? Additionally, you should see an allergy specialist who can perform tests to determine what you're allergic to. This way, your treatment can be tailored based on these factors.

The good news is there are some easy steps you can take around the house to reduce your exposure to common household irritants that may be triggering asthma attacks. Browse the Allergy Be Gone website to learn more about our bedding for allergies and allergen air purifier.
