A lot of the allergy relief tips you hear can seem to be given time and time again. This can be frustrating if they have never worked for you personally. The following tips and information could be new to you, or you may have never related it to allergies before. Hopefully at least one of these four tips can bring you some much needed relief this season.
- Change your furnace filter: If your allergies seem to be worse inside your home, your furnace filter may be the culprit. Change the filter to decrease your allergy symptoms and your monthly bills, as dirty filters work harder, sucking up more energy and increasing payments.
- Clean your phone daily: A recent study found 51 types of bacteria on cell phones. Bacteria ranged from simple dirt and grime to Enterococcus (found in feces) which can cause severe infections. Allergens such as pollen and ragweed can also stick to your phone, traveling wherever it goes. Clean your phone with antibacterial wipes every day and avoid taking it into high-bacteria and allergen areas such as the bathroom or your garden.
- Wipe down your purse: According to The Daily Mail, purses can collect a range of bacteria and allergens, which are then transferred to your home surfaces, bringing allergens past your closed doors and windows.
- Wash your bra more often: Your bra (obviously) goes everywhere you go. Although experts are torn on how often they should be washed to retain elasticity and damage, bras should be cleaned at least every three wears. The area around your bust and underarms can become sweaty throughout the day and attract allergens and other irritants. These will stick to your bra, further agitating allergies.
