Cedar fever can lead to serious sinus infections

Previously on this blog, we reported that residents of Central Texas are plagued by an allergic condition known as cedar fever each winter, noting that this year it has been particularly severe. As if that's not bad enough, Austin news outlet KEYE TV reveals that symptoms related to this affliction can often lead to more serious ailments such as sinus infections and bronchitis.

Local resident Romona Cruz-Peters sat down with the source and explained how her allergies recently progressed to a fever, a sinus infection and ultimately laryngitis.

"It's definitely been the worst I've had since living in Texas," Cruz-Peters said. "It started off with the usual sniffling, sneezing, and watery eyes. I had no idea that it could make you really ill and, in fact, dangerously sick."

Dr. Ross Tobleman of Scott and White Hospital in Round Rock told the news outlet that "once you have that immune reaction, the mucus will travel to different places, and it will get into your lungs," noting that the best ways to keep symptoms at a minimum and prevent serious illnesses are to diligently take allergy medication and wash pollen out of your clothes and hair at the end of the day.

The good news is that there are allergy control products you can invest in that will make an immediate difference in your quality of life. For example, Allergy Be Gone's allergen air purifier works by removing pollutants directly from the air, and our hypoallergenic bedding can prevent the buildup of common household irritants.
