‘Glee’ star Kristin Chenoweth opens up about asthma

Tony-award winner Kristin Chenoweth, who currently has a starring role on the hit television show "Glee," recently revealed that she has been battling asthma for the past decade. According to E!, the 45-year-old has kept this secret out of the public eye since her diagnosis, but has finally decided to come forward and discuss her disease.

"I actually was diagnosed 10 years ago as an adult with asthma," Chenoweth told the news outlet. "Those people who know me, and some of my fans, know that I have an inner ear problem and a neck problem too and I was just like, 'Do I dare talk about having asthma as well?'"

Chenoweth explained that she was diagnosed with the chronic respiratory disease shortly after 9/11. She had been living in New York, and said that her doctor told her that a large number of adults who resided in the Big Apple during that time began exhibiting symptoms of asthma following 9/11.

While Chenoweth has been able to control her asthma with the help of medication, she admitted that it often interferes with her career.

"There are times when I've been on Broadway and I've struggled getting my breath and I slink off stage and I scream, 'Give me my inhaler!'" Chenoweth said.
