9 ways to prepare for spring allergies: Part 3

Do you suffer from allergies but want to enjoy the spring weather? Make sure you're well prepared for allergy season.

Do you suffer from severe allergies? While your friends are excited about the warm weather, are you afraid of spring? We understand where you're coming from! Even while last year was one of the worst allergy seasons in recent time, every year is bad for allergy sufferers.

In the first two parts of our three-part series, we talked visiting a doctor, taking allergy medicine well before allergies begin affecting you and understanding how your location plays a factor in the severity of your allergies. We also suggested that you defend your home from allergens, keep mold spores at bay and change up your daily schedule to avoid peak allergy times.

Don't fear spring this upcoming year. Read the first two parts of this series and then follow this additional advice to help you prepare for allergy season. Doing so will ensure you're able to enjoy the beautiful weather and spend time outside with family and friends.

1. Use an app
There's an app to keep track of weather, traffic, employees and places you've gone to the bathroom around the world. No, seriously. So, why isn't there an app to keep track of pollen levels? There actually is! And there's plenty of them.

If you're looking for an app from a reputable source, download WedMD's allergy app. According to WedMD, the app allows you to "track your allergies anywhere" and obtain "real time alerts on your mobile device." You can also see what the allergy count is for allergens ranging from mold and dust to trees and grasses. Once you've been allergy tested, this is a must download app.

2. Change your sheets
According to a survey by the company Ergoflex, 55 percent of men ages 18 to 25 change their bed sheets every 3 months. On the other hand, the company found that women between the ages of 35 and 60 change their sheets, on average, every week.

For those suffering from allergies, especially men, it's best to follow the women here and change those sheets every week. This can significantly cut down on dust and dust mites, which can help you better manage your allergies.

3. Or, purchase allergy bedding
If you really hate doing the wash, or don't have time to wash the sheets every week, purchase allergy bedding from Allergy Be Gone. We have a variety of allergy bedding including pillow and mattress encasings and hypo-allergenic comforters and mattress pads. While this is no excuse to cut down on washing, it takes allergy-prevention one step further.
