If you suffer from allergies, you know how difficult it can be to manage them. We've compiled a list of mistakes people often make when they're suffering from allergy symptoms. Here are five of them:
1. We guess
Have you ever sneezed a few times and went straight to the pharmacy to purchase over-the-counter allergy medicine? This is a mistake! If you think you have allergies, visit an allergy specialist. He or she will determine what you're allergic to and lay out a comprehensive treatment plan.
2. Showering in the morning
If you spend a lot of time outside, make sure you shower at night. Even when you're just walking around, pollen sticks to your hair and skin, worsening allergy symptoms. By showering, you rinse away dust, pollen and dirt.
3. Wearing shoes in your home
You may never think twice when walking around your home in shoes. Unless, of course, they're muddy. But your shoes can actually track in all types of harmful allergens. The same goes for your clothes.
4. Going outside during peak hours
Seasonal allergies are worse between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., so make sure to stay inside during this time period. If you're at home, shut all windows and doors and seal off air leaks.
5. Sitting next to the window at work
You're paying a consequence for those beautiful views. Is it really worth it? Opt for a desk away from the window and decorate your cubicle with gorgeous landscape pictures instead.
