9 unique ways to clean your house to prevent allergies: part 1

Fans are hard to clean because dust often falls of the fins when cleaning. However, there is a tip that can help prevent that.

Cleaning your house doesn't mean you have to purchase a lot of expensive cleaning items and solutions. Here are some interesting ways to use what you already have in your house to clean.

1. Use vinegar and baking soda to clean your dishwasher

Even your dishwasher needs washing. Use a cup of white vinegar and baking soda, separately, to clean the inside of your dishwasher. Place vinegar in a container and place the container on the upper rack. Run the dishwasher through a hot water cycle. After it's finished, spread the baking soda on the bottom of the appliance and then run a short-water cycle. Once done, you can be confident all of that old, grimy, dirt and allergens have been thoroughly washed away.

2. Iron your carpet

When you're done ironing out the wrinkles in your clothes, use the same solution to clean out the stains in you carpet. Mix and spray ¼ white vinegar and ¾ water over the stain and place a clean terrycloth towel over it. Next, iron away, using the highest steam level possible.

3. Use your pillow to clean the fan

You won't want to sleep on it afterwards, but using a pillow case is a great way to clean a fan. Usually when you dust a fan, the dust falls off and onto the floor or your bed. A pillow case helps prevent that. Open your pillow case and slide it onto one of the fins of the fan. Then pull the pillow case back. All of the dust will fall directly into the pillow case.
