Fitbit fitness tracker contains nickel, may cause allergic reactions

The millions of people in the United States who suffer from skin allergies have to be extra careful to avoid certain products that could trigger irritating and potentially dangerous reactions. According to LiveScience, Fitbit recently issued an apology after discovering that one of its most popular items — a $130 wristband called the Fitbit Force that tracks daily activity — had caused a number of individuals to develop serious rashes.

The source reports that the Fitbit Force contains nickel, which is the ingredient responsible for the allergic reactions. As a result, the company has offered refunds and replacements to a handful of customers who say they have been affected by the product.

"We are sorry that even a few consumers have experienced these problems and assure you that we are looking at ways to modify the product so that anyone can wear the Fitbit Force comfortably," said a FitBit spokesperson in a press statement. "We will continue to update our customers with the latest information."
