According to LiveScience, Fitbit recently issued an apology after discovering that one of its most popular items — a $130 wristband called the Fitbit Force that tracks daily activity — had caused a number of individuals to develop serious rashes.
The source reports that the Fitbit Force contains nickel, which is the ingredient responsible for the allergic reactions. As a result, the company has offered refunds and replacements to a handful of customers who say they have been affected by the product.
"We are sorry that even a few consumers have experienced these problems and assure you that we are looking at ways to modify the product so that anyone can wear the Fitbit Force comfortably," said a FitBit spokesperson in a press statement. "We will continue to update our customers with the latest information."
