Allergy specialist explains why hay fever is so bad in California

Seasonal allergies are prevalent throughout the United States, but have you ever wondered why they affect people worse in some areas than others? In a Los Angeles Times article published on October 11, allergy specialist Dr. Jordan Pritiki explained why people who live in the Golden State seem to be hit particularly bad, stating the following:

"Every day of the year, some plants somewhere are pollinating and giving grief to some people. But in this country, weeds pollinate in the fall, and weeds are huge allergy agitators. And be warned: California's relatively mild winters mean the pollination season can go on … and on … and on. Not only that, but because of warmer temperatures and higher concentrations of carbon dioxide associated with climate change, weeds everywhere are producing more pollen than ever."

Hay fever causes symptoms that include sneezing, coughing, watery eyes, a runny nose, sinus pressure and facial pain. Unfortunately, it's difficult for the 7.8 percent of adults and 10 percent of children in the United States who suffer from this affliction to avoid this common allergen entirely. While doctors can prescribe effective medications to their patients, some people prefer to seek out more natural solutions.

At Allergy Be Gone, we sell a plethora of allergy control products that can help make people more comfortable in their home.
