9 ways to allergy proof your home this fall: Part Two

Don't let seasonal allergies hamper your autumn fun.

Don't let allergies stop you from enjoying autumn festivities. In the second part of our three-part series, we explore three more ways you can allergy-proof your home this fall:

1. Upgrade kitchen appliances

A clean and efficiently running kitchen goes a long way to ensuring your allergies stay in check. A few things you can do to maintain it include:

  • Always use a vented exhaust fan to remove fumes. This decreases moisture build up, which can cause mold to form.
  • Don't let dirty dishes build up. This will help reduce mold as well.
  • Always take the trash out to decrease the chances your home becomes infested with rodents or cockroaches. These pests can cause allergy flare-ups.

2. Remove carpets

Linoleum wood floors make your home look more modern and don't allow allergens to build up. That's a win-win for any homeowner. You'll also appreciate the decreased time spent vacuuming, which can cause dust and particles to fly into the air.

If wood floors aren't an option, try installing low-pile instead of high-pile carpets. High-pile carpets are softer and fluffier and because of this, hold allergens more easily

3. Leave the allergens outside

In part one we talked about how it's important to maintain your air conditioner by ensuring it has a quality air filter. This will keep allergens outside. Along with this, place a door mat both inside and outside of each entryway. When people enter your house, ask them to remove their shoes so they don't spread dirt and allergens around.

Another way to manage allergies is to avoid triggers. Visit Allergy Be Gone's store for a wide range of allergy control products.
