9 unique ways to clean your house to prevent allergies: part 3

Having a hard time cleaning your stove? There is an easy solution for that.

You know that  allergens build up on your kitchen table, counter, rug and other common services in your house. However, there are many smaller areas where you can find allergens. If you want to protect your house from invading allergens this summer, here are some unique cleaning tips to get you started.

1. Oil is not dust's best friend

Often, when you're done cooking, it'll look like you produced more grime and oil than you did food. Worse, dust and dirt floating in the air become stuck to the oil, which leaves you with a dirty, sticky mess to deal with. After taking a short rest from all that cooking, you'll want to clean your stove.

Instead of using water and ammonia, which can irritate your eyes and skin, place a few drops of vegetable or mineral oil on a paper towel. Then wipe away. After you're done cleaning, take some soap and water and remove any excess oil from the stove.

2. Dust and wax your vents

You may hardly notice, but throughout the year, your vents build up a lot of dust. As allergy season kicks in, you'll need to dust and clean them so they work properly. Doing so will also ensure you can breathe more easily.

Wash down both sides of the vents with soap and water. Once dry, wax liberally and then buff the wax off. Your vents will repeal dust like never before.

3. Clean your toilet with duct tape

Mold often grows on the underside of a toilet's rim, which means you've likely never seen it. By using duct tape and vinegar you can clean the inside of the rim and prevent continuous germ build up.
