Specific diet best able to fend off allergy symptoms
Allergies may be inescapable, especially during this time of year, when pollen seemingly appears on every surface, both inside and outside. One of the best ways to ensure good health during allergy season is to maintain a healthy diet, rich in food containing omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, such as nuts, fruits and vegetables and fish. "Allergies cause inflammation of the tissues lining the nose and throat. Finding foods that decrease inflammation will lead to relief," Mike Tringale, vice president of external affairs for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, told Time Magazine last week.
Other studies have shown that in addition to insulating individuals from the effects of allergies, foods high in omega-3 can have a myriad of health benefits, including increased blood circulation and a decreased prevalence of mental conditions like depression.
Individuals can also build up their immune system by exercising regularly and getting an adequate amount of sleep each night. When the body is in peak working condition, it is better able to fight off allergy symptoms.
Should allergies become too much to handle, sufferers may need to find relief through a variety of different treatments. Whether this involves using eye drops, running a HEPA air purifier in the home, using a saline rinse, taking allergy medications or some combination of these treatments, symptoms can be successfully beaten.
