Simple ways to make money off of your spring cleaning

You can make money off of the items you no longer need by listing them on eBay.

Spring cleaning probably isn't your favorite activity, but what if we told you that there is a way to cash in on it? As you're sorting through your home and de-cluttering, set aside anything you don't want and consider making some money off of the following items:

Antiques and collectibles – Many people use websites like eBay, where they can list their possessions and allow interested parties to bid on them. If you have belongings that are more than a century old, you may want to take them to antique dealers to see if they have any desire to buy them.

Clothes – Leah Ingram, who wrote the book "Toss, Keep, Sell," recommends bringing clothes that are currently in-season to your local thrift store, claiming that she's been able to make the most money when she's timely about the items she sells. Since spring cleaning happens during the warmer months, it's a good idea to set aside your fall and winter clothes until September rolls around.

Electronics - Updated versions of products are constantly hitting stores, so some people prefer buying a slightly older model for a bit less money. "The longer you hold onto something like a computer, VCR, something like that, they go down in value. So if you don't think you are going to use it, you should probably sell it before it loses any more of its value," Aaron LaPedis, author of "The Garage Sale Millionaire," told Bankrate.com. You can list these items on Craigslist or eBay.

As always, when cleaning out any part of the home, it's important for people who suffer from allergies and asthma to use products that will effectively remove allergens such as dust, mold and pet dander without aggravating their symptoms.
