UK design firm develops allergy awareness app

For most allergy sufferers, the hardest part about combating their triggers is knowing when they are going to be most impactful. Tracking the pollen levels for some inkling as to when hay fever might strike would make dealing with seasonal allergies so much easier. That is why creators and developers at 383, a creative design firm in the UK, have built an app that will help allergy sufferers be better prepared.

The team designed a prototype sensor that is able to measure, read and communicate air quality readings in real time. The sensor then combines that data with local forecasts and online information so that you can access it right on your smartphone. They are calling the app Nosee.

John Newbold, the creative director at 383, told Western Daily Press "We created Nosee to highlight how, using a relatively simple sensor and their smartphone, consumers' lives could be made a whole lot easier. These prototypes help us show people what's possible right now, and move the future a little nearer."

These sensors can be placed outdoors in a garden or another structure and will work to constantly and consistently monitor pollen levels and localized air quality. One of the unique features about this app is its ability to remind users to take medication and generate thoughtful, educated advice regarding areas and time periods to avoid going outside.

This new app could change day-to-day life for a number of individuals worldwide. Being prepared and educated on real-time pollen and allergen levels could help sufferers live happier, less restricted lives. For other updates in allergy control, follow along with this blog.
