New carpet cleaner could help those suffering from extended seasonal allergies

Carpets often store allergens through the winter months.

Many scientists are predicting this year's allergy season to be one of the worst on record by the time the first frost hits. Part of the reason for this is that the allergy season is expected to last well into the autumn months. Due to the increase in this threat, consumers may need to turn to new products to ensure airborne irritants don't make their way into their homes, where they can wreak havoc until spring.

On September 12, Rug Doctor announced its new Anti-Allergen Carpet Cleaner, which the company says it created to refresh carpets by trapping pollen, dust mites and pet dander. The Texas-based business says the newest addition to its established lineup of products will be available in 96-ounce containers.

"Fall and winter can be tough for those who battle allergies, and when temperatures drop, people head indoors where they encounter a whole host of allergy triggers," Susan Natoli, a manager of research and development at Rug Doctor, said in a statement.

Many doctors say carpets are one of the biggest collectors of allergens, and as such should be cleaned every three to six months. Rug Doctor advises those who want to remain allergy free this winter to keep their bed sheets, pillow cases and blankets clean as well.

Those who want to locate the nearest store that sells Rug Doctor products can turn to a tool on the company's website. Rug Doctor's store locator allows users to enter their zip code and email address. After this, a map containing the available locations will appear for those seeking allergy relief.

Interested customers can also purchase the company's other offers such as its Oxy-Steam Carpet Cleaner, Spot and Stain Remover and Upholstery Cleaner.
