Top 9 reasons you must clean your house this summer: Part 1

Studies indicate your productivity decreases when you're messy.

Do you need some extra motivation to keep your house clean this summer? After a long, hard day of work, it can be difficult to find the energy to clean out the fridge, wash out the dishwasher or reach for those ceiling fans. However, you must do so to decrease your allergy symptoms. Here are three reasons you should keep your home spot free:

1. Decreases depression

Most people despise cleaning, but less would if they knew it could brighten their day. According to a 20,000 person study by the British Journal of Sports Medicine, 20 minutes of exercise a day can decrease depression. That exercise includes anything from jogging to, yes, cleaning your house. The Scottish Health Survey studied 3,000 people and concluded that housework could cut stress and anxiety by as much as 20 percent.

2. Increases productivity

Do you want to increase your energy and efficiency on Mondays? Studies indicate a mess can affect how productive you are. While some indicate clutter helps increase efficiency, others debunk the theory. So, what should you do?

There is a case to be made for both strategies. If you want a bunch of sentimental items in your home office to inspire you between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., then great! However, all those crumbs and stains on your desk need to go.

3. It's safer for your children

We don't need an explanation riddled with statistics to state this: Your children are safer when your home is clean, especially if they have allergies. More and more children are playing inside, so ensure that their playrooms are properly dusted down, washed and vacuumed. Doing so will create a safe environment for your children when they play indoors.
