Fall allergy season is right around the corner

Autumn is beautiful to look at, but it presents hidden dangers like allergies.

Fall allergy season is slowly making its way around the U.S., but doctors are warning the season will be here faster than you know it.

For many, this has been one of the worst allergy seasons to date. People have been suffering from sniffling, stuffy noses, wheezing and watery eyes all year, and they have failed to find much relief. Unfortunately, the transition to autumn won't help.

Suffering from allergies in the spring has little bearing on how your body will react to allergens in the fall. Dr. Colin Rogerson of Eskenazi Health notes that people respond differently.

"The specific pollens that are out are different. A lot of times you'll see people that have allergies in the spring and the fall have them both seasons, but a lot of times people are only allergic to things that are out in the spring and some that are only allergic to things in the fall."

So what kind of allergies should you expect?

Ragweed and mold are very prevalent in the fall. Mold allergies could be especially brutal because of the healthy amount of rain many received throughout the year. Warm, wet temperatures spawn mold spores.

The best defense against allergy attacks is to try to prevent them from happening. If you're planning on taking medicine, use it well before you normally start to suffer. This will help your immune system produce enough anti-bodies to fight off allergens

Other ways to better protect yourself is to safeguard your home. Use proper, clean air conditioners, humidifiers or dehumidifiers and close windows during peak times of the day.

Another way to manage allergies is to avoid triggers. Visit Allergy Be Gone's store for a wide range of allergy control products.
